Ash-Shahada Housing Association is a Muslim-led housing association and currently owns 150 homes and leases a further 51 hostel bed spaces in the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, and Croydon. We also have a further around 3120 units (non-social housing) in Birmingham of supported exempt accommodation, which are used to house disadvantaged groups such as those suffering domestic violence, refugees, women only, Muslim women only, baby and mother provision etc.

Board recruitment has continued over the last three years, and we have recently appointed three independent Board members with Sector Background. We now want to further strengthen our governance arrangements with the appointment of a SID to help with our growth agenda and oversee the delivery of super-efficient and first-class housing services to our residents.

The SID will work with the Chair to assist in providing strategic leadership to the Board and provide support and guidance to the Chief Executive in delivering the vision and values of the Association. We are looking for an individual with:

• Significant experience as a non-executive board member (ideally as a SID or Vice Chair)
• A strong understanding of governance and regulation
• Experience of shaping and delivering change at board level and strengthening governance
